C350 Petrol MY12 Estate
Just got my first Mercedes, a very late 2011 MY12 C350 Sport Estate. Coming from a string of flat, V and straight petrol six sports cars it was time to grow up a little and get a petrol 6 cylinder estate car ;)

I was sure the official MPG figure of 38 would be some way out, but the display is showing 33MPG after a fast 300 mile delivery and the PO's daily 25 mile driving. This car has the works - panoramic roof, ventilated seats etc etc etc a long list of options.

I was amazed at the value in this - compared to others - e.g. a petrol Skoda Octavia VRS Estate of the same vintage, mileage and MPG is the same price and looks worn out. Better MPG and a chunk cheaper to buy than an equivalent 325i/330i/335i.

Took me 9 months of waiting for the right car as these are rare (think I saw 3 for sale in that time) and I hope this is it.

Anyway the car is almost too beautiful for family and mountain biking duties, a credit to its previous owners it really is like new with 96k miles.

The car is due an oil service, brake pads and overdue auto box filter and oil. I've always self serviced and fixed my cars and this will likely be no different, its great to join a forum with so many DIYers. I am thinking of doing these myself, we shall see if I have time.

I broke the first rule of car buying and bought the car unseen 300 miles away after speaking to the owner on the phone. Transferred the money the same day with no escrow. I then had it delivered by someone I had never met.

But it all worked out (I think). If anyone needs a car moving quickly and efficiently for less than £1 a mile I can heartily recommend the guy I used he works across the country for dealerships and private customers.

P.S. Does anyone know a paint code or good match (wurth?) for the wheels? One needs painting at least.

Welcome, looks like you got a good un on the face of it, and yes 350 petrols are quite rare...
Lots on here do their own servicing so you shouldn’t have any issues, ask away...
Sorry not sure on the wheel ‘paint’ - I always get repairs and repaint or powder coat

Hi and welcome. Self servicing isn't an issue on these. They're really quite easy for most things.
Lovely looking car.

Thanks all!

Turns out Auto trans was actually done 20k ago, so not due yet.

I need discs and pads all round, and everything for a B service.

Are the eBay main dealer genuine parts seller the best source? I was thinking Textar brake pads as they were great on my 911 (OE maker for Porsche).

The bolt holding the dipstick guide tube to the block at the top is missing. The NOx and Lambda sensors were replaced recently, maybe it was moved for that and not put back, but there is a gap between the bracket and block - so maybe a spacer sits there or another bracket? I tried to see on WIS but can find the dipstick tube and bolt but nothing else.

I will get a pic later.

Textar are/were the MB OE too- MB Grangemouth are worth a try as they are forum supporters and provide a discount to members 01324 686002 Neil Young in parts if he’s still there.

Hi and welcome, that is a rare beast, looks lovely

P.S. Does anyone know a paint code or good match (wurth?) for the wheels? One needs painting at least.

Wurth is the best option, those wheels are diamond cut, it may be better to have them fully powdercoated in "Hi Power" silver.

I did mine myself using E-Tech paint and primer, very easy to do, in the summer you can easily do 2 wheels in a day.

Self servicing then this is the oil for that car

Brake wise I use Pagid or Brembo from ECP

For OEM parts MB Grangemouth are forum sponsors and do great deals for members and deliver for £5 but it is still worth shopping around

Will need brake fluid as well at 8 years old.

I would check the all the filters particularly the air filters

Thanks, I will have to look again, sure they are painted! But then I've not really seen it in the daylight yet

Can't believe how cheap they sell this oil! 10l fully synthetic 5w40 for £40! Wish I'd known about it for my 911.

Thanks this car has a cast iron service history, brake fluid done last year apparently.

Great bike now, I have the 2018 but I run it as a 29er https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/mountain-bikes/marin-b17-3-review/

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

PS should I be calling it an S204 rather than W205 estate...?

I find MB are quite competitive on disc and pads prices (especially if they have them on the shelf) so worth ringing around especially MB of Newcastle. My policy is pretty much fit genuine parts nowadays the last set of MB discs and pads I fitted have been brilliant

Pagid make them for MB, part of Friction Products

I have just bought front Brembo pads and disks for my mothers W204 C250 CGi for £137.55 all in from ECP using the code SALE60, cant go wrong with that
