Hi all, can anyone advise what tyre size should be on the rears of a c220 coupe? I've put some 19's on but the tyres seem to be really rubbing on the car. I bought them from someone who had a c250 so I didn't think there would be an issue but it's really not a good ride. I've put the current size up and what the alloys look like on the car.

Thanks in advance!!

Tyres:

Front: 225/35R19

Your rear tyres are way too big

I've got 235/35 on the front, do you think they will be alright?

The offset looks completely wrong to me, as they stick out much too far.

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- ford kuga 65 plate awd powershift .
At 70 mph with 235 35 19 . Youre doing 72 mph. The sidewall is also higher even though its 35 profile. So if you fit the correct tyres on the rear the cars profile will be wrong ..

Agree with the above , either that or you are running spacers that are too big.

What offset (ET) are the new wheels ?

So basically, I've been quite stupid on this. I bought these wheels with not great tyres as I thought (and still do) the alloys would look good on the car. I saw the pic of the wheels on the vehicle which was a c250 so I didn't think for a minute I'd have an issue with tyre sizing. I've since replaced the fronts with 235/35/19 and as you can see the backs are awful (currently 265/35/19) so they need to come off ASAP.

So as it stands I will be replacing the backs with 255/30/19 but my question is do I need to replace my 45mile old Michelin PS4' 235/35/19 with 225/35/19?

There's a lesson to be learnt here but that's for another day....

I don't think that it is the the size that is the issue.

On my E350 Coupe I am running 275/35x18 on the rear, where standard is 255/35x18. This gives just 10mm extra wider each side, to help protect the wheel rim from kerbs. They look fine, don't rub and you wouldn't know that they were wider unless you checked the size.

The wheels that you have look similar to my Chinese copy winter wheels and they stick out further than the standard AMG wheels, but not to the extent of yours.

I think that you would be better off keeping your new tyres, selling the wheels and getting some new wheels with the correct offset.

I didn't for 1 minute think there would be an issue because these are where the wheels came from.

Thanks Bubble I appreciate the advice. I believe the wheels offset is this;

Fronts:- 19x8J - ET35

Rears:- 19x9J - ET38

Is that wrong?

Yes, both offsets are wrong.
For a W204 C220 on 19" wheels you should have the following offsets
Front ET 45
Rear ET 54

This website might be handy to check offsets and part #'s should you want to get OEM MB wheels.

I honestly don't know the answer to that, but I do know that the lower the ET number, the more the wheels will "stick out"

Good luck with getting a good result!

When you say wrong, is it that they won't fit on the car or just it's not ideal? Am i fighting a losing battle with these?

10mm on the front will make no difference, there is loads of room in the arch, the rear is a different matter, the current tyre is way too big so putting a smaller one on will help the problem
