Hello All
Wondering if you could help. My Mercedes Benz C Class- purchased from new is just coming up to 2 years old, Reminder for service 25 days ago so booked with dealer due in 6 days. This morning a brake pad wear warning light came on. The vehicle has only done 15,100 miles from new. It is driven like Miss Daisy compared to some of the cars I have previously owned.

I have previously owned these cars, all the cars apart from the Renault have been driven the same.
Very little motorway driving.

Volvo S40 MK 2 from new - 46,000 miles before pad change.
Volvo S40 Mk 1 from new - 43,000 miles before pad change.
Renault 5 Turbo - 2nd hand and thrashed as it should be, the pads lasted 27,000 miles between various services.
Citroen Xantia - 2nd hand 31,000 miles between services

Without any doubt I have driven the MB I have now so sensibly but it has the worst brake pad wear rate. Is this common for a MB?

No, but your other mileages don't sound that high either!

Mine had new front pads and discs at 45K because the discs were rusty. At first the dealer was reluctant to change them as there was so little wear they assumed they were quite new!

Could it be the rears that have worn on yours, as rears are increasingly used for stabilty control, although I don't recall seeing this mentioned as an issue on Mercedes (BMW 5 Series is notorious for this)?

Or it could just be a fault with the sensor / wiring, of course.

Sounds low but if you’re not doing much motorway work then you’ll most likely wear the brakes out more.
I don’t think I had the pads changed on my W213 in the <45k miles I had it from new.

I’ve never changed brake pads that early even on the 63, that was 25k but it had seen some light track work ( and was packing 704bhp .. )

My S203 had 66K on the clock when I bought it. Front pads were changed after warning message at 86K in May '16. Now have 103K on the clock and pads were fine when MOT'd at 102K

That does seem excessively low... My Mini Cooper before the W213 lasted 55k miles of pure town driving before the brakes were due. Driven like miss daisy

My w213 is due some new discs and pads due to warping however, still 8mm on the pads and that is at 35k miles!

Get your wheel off and look at your pads. Could be a fault sensor?
