So the E220d estate has gone in to main dealers for ‘B’ service - £750 plus - and the call at 4.45 was not to say it was ready but that the front left alloy was cracked and the replacement would be £___?

The courtesy car is a nice little ‘C’ class

Happy days

It would be fine if prepped and welded correctly
I’ve welded loads in my time

Look up Alloy wheel repair/ refurbish near you on the net.

I had an alloy welded, drove it for two years no issues before I sold it.

Will be about £50 ish..

Are you letting the grand kids weld it.

As a side. A weld will be stronger than anything.

Hi Emilys Dad
Here is a link to the video which shows the crack https://video.citnow.com/vtfMBN50Cjd
If it works - grateful for your assessment.
In terms of telling MB - the car is serviced there and I imagine the staff will check the notes before beginning negotiation on my returning the car in a year - apparently I will have to sign a disclaimer if I drive it away tomorrow without a replacement alloy as they deem it unsafe - it has failed the MOT

Sorry .... didn't read your initial post properly

And as they say, that tyre is fubar'd ;)

I'm not sure over welding .... & I can weld ally ... I think I'd look for a second hand rim

The MOT is due 30th March according to Gov website and there is no fail listed on there as yet so they have not done it yet. Take it to a specialist and get it repaired and the tyre replaced or look for a secondhand one. You might have been driving round with that damage for months. Try this geezer in Chorley

The rim and tyre damage looks like pretty standard damage caused by straddling a speed bump which has split the rim and pinched the tyre.

MB would weld it I would suspect if it was their car...

And if you but a second hand alloy, it may have been welded anyway.
