Started my list of pointless jobs to pass the time for 12 weeks . Changed the hydraulic oil reservoir for the CLK folding roof .
It’s in the boot space , about 200ml ? I bourght a Litre of the oil last year , this is the 3rd change now . There is maybe one change left to have used up the bottle .
Dark oil out , clean oil in what’s not to like :D
Nice idea that Wighty, must do that on the 129. Oh, hang on.....:(

Put battery on charge all day as I've only been doing a few short journeys, the worst thing for a battery. Haven't had any symptoms, but need to be sure at present.

2001 CLK 230 kompressor Avantgarde 6 speed manual with loads of factory options!
New tyre replaced on the SLK200 plus the alloy cleaned up. Paired the phone to the Bluetooth system in the car (took a few attempts). Rear discs arrived via courier. Next job this week........

Used to have a C63...
Trying to ration the excitement, but today seemed appropriate to give the UnMerc a bit of TLC. It's had a couple of visits to boss's pad, where it's sat for a week or so at a time, so bit of a soak, decon, wash & dry, and then an application of Meg's Ceramic Spray just to top up for "summer". (Well, until next week, and I'm bored again).

I think it needs a bigger spoiler on the back, that one looks to not have enough downforce ;);)

The 6 year old Varta battery can go back in one of the old classics. :)

Finally got around to doing the transmission oil flush which has been niggling me for a quite a while. Took a while to get the car up and level working on the gravel :mad: After that using the Draper suction pump easily took out just over three litres and made taking the sump off a less messy affair. Actually wasn't too bad as I had done a partial change about 3 years ago.
Having lost the hose for connecting to the Banjo connector I had to make up another but couldn't remember how. Finally made it up with heat shrink and a jubilee clip, surprisingly worked well.
Anyhow after a refill and a flush of 5 litres left it red (ready) for measuring at the right temp thanks to Wighty's advice on the iCarsoft. A quick trip showed a very smooth changes so hopefully that's another box ticked.:):)

Not mine but I've driven it so I'm claiming it. :)

No 12v sockets as standard... :rolleyes:o_O

But a hole ready in the dash top storage bin and a space for another between the gear leaver and storage bin. So fit them I have.

Very nice to drive and a very nice place to be for many hours

Washed the CLK roof with some Renovo convertible top cleaner and then a quick shampoo of the car body to get the roof muck off it .
The roof should dry overnight and I can get a coat of black Renovo paint on (if it needs it) and a coat of proofer before the cold weather sweeps in on the weekend

Feel ever so slightly guilty driving top down on almost empty roads (with a very valid reason for travel).
Don’t think I should be enjoying myself this much :p

Charged battery on the S Class, now swapped the charger on to the Lexus.

Had to go through the rear passenger door to open the tailgate with the emergency release mechanism as it won't open with any buttons or the key. Not for the first time. Of course, the battery lives behind said tailgate.

It was repaired with a new motor last March under warranty, wouldn't open again in January this year but when I took it in to them to look at, typically it was fine. It went in last Tuesday for it's 6 year major service where they found out that it wasn't working again as apparently the new motor has a fault. Yet another one ordered but it could be a while in the current climate.

This is now the 3rd time it's let me down in the 2 years I've owned it so, unless some goodwill is forthcoming from Lexus, it may just be time for another car change. I had a 15 year old Subaru which was more reliable than this thing, I may just go back to one of those or not even bother with a daily/winter car any more.
