I’m thinking of replacing the control arms.
Does anyone have any recommendations of what type of set to use? I need good quality ones, but I’m obviously on a budget.

Has anyone used Febi Bilstein parts before?

Good quality, dealer, old parts are surprisingly cheap at the dealers as they want them off the shelf, including at the factory and ask for discount.

Febi make some supension parts for merc, but that doesnt mean they are to the standard as the ones in the MB box.

Thank you for that! That’s good to know.

If you mean lower wishbones, I paid £700 with discount from MB, I have used cheaper ones which Febi made, they were ok!

I've used Febi on my 129 (which is based on the 124).
No problems to date. Also seem to recall the Febi ones have replaceable ball joints (but can't swear to it).

Replaceable/non-replaceable ball joints are usually a question of spec required to clear brake discs etc. E.g. my 300-24 Sportline requires non-replaceable and I had to pay 1000€ for 2 lower control arms. Costly business.

As a rule the control arms dont wear out , only the ball joint , and the 2 bushes on both ends do .You can fit new bushes with a bit of ingenuity .On some control arms the ball joint is not removable,, but are fited in a way you wont remove them - so a new control arm we be needed. . I would get a pair of good second hand,, solid rust free control arms clean them up and repaint them .Fit new ball joints and bearing and bushes .

The bodywork its in a bad state underneath the car, so i didn't see wen i got it, also some interior, vacuum, front windows seat controls, heater fan, and electrics dot work 100%, a lot of parts from a lot of cars, im not even talking about paint, so i wanted to try and sell some parts and reduce the elctric and vacume stuff on the car as much as possible, thats why i called it LondonRat..... No place to work on it just on the drive...... So thats why i have to scrap it, but if someone offers me some cash for it i would happily sell it like that, thinking a part of this car would still be alive.

L;R That sound a good idea to sell it in one piece .But if you had room to sell it part by part you would be quids in.Have you seen what they are asking for parts on Ebay . If you do part it out let me know i need a few bits myself . Is this the M103 engine.
