It’s definitely the CLS Shooting Brake I want. However, I’ve also decided that used car prices are going to fall due to the lockdown etc., so in the meantime I’ll be doing all the research I can.
I’m also in the process of selling an apartment so the profit from that will ease the paying for the car ;)
I’d love a 63 but would baulk every time the tax and insurance came due!
I don’t mind paying, say, up to £300 road tax for the privilege of getting my wheels, tyres and suspension damaged by potholes but any more would just be upsetting.
Of course, that’s not to say that if the right one came along (up to £17K) I wouldn’t pounce on it but softly softly catchee monkey :D
In the meantime any pointers on the things to have, or not, would be very welcome for my wish list.

Distronic and Airmatic would be my must have options, that and ILS, everything else is pretty much standard if you can actually find one that is

Thanks. I’d like a pano roof if they ever had that option. Deffo Distronic and Airmatic and I quite fancy parking assist but I suppose they all come with that.
The budget will bend quite a bit once the apartment is sold :D

I think the facelift had the pan roof option but I’m not sure on that one, also try to find a light interior as that are very dark inside otherwise I would say.

Park assist or active park assist?
I’m not sure if I would use Parktronic but I’ll need to research the differences in assist or active

Assist tells you how much to move the steering to get into a space, active does it all for you :)

That’s very nice and all the toys!
I do think the advice on a light interior is a very good point though.

My mother will only drive cars with a dark exterior and light interior or vice versa, she currently has Black leather with Indigolight
Blue exterior which is lovely.

Which engine are you looking at?

I don’t really mind if it’s the smaller one or the V6 but preference is the V6

I think all the facelift ones have matrix LED (ILS) headlights. The one at Big Motoring World hasn't got Airmatic. Also, B-M-W are a pain to do business with: don't have the car ready to show you when you make an appointment; no test drive until you've paid; etc. etc. We walked away as the customer service was decidedly poor. I am not anti Car Supermarkets per se - we bought our Honda Jazz from Car Giant and they were very efficient and helpful, within the rules that they operate by (very short test drives).

Rybrook Shrewsbury were just excellent on the other hand, best I’ve known.

I want a Maserati, im waiting, watching, its such an unpredictable market. . . .
I think it’s wise to wait a while too. That’s exactly what I’ve decided. If nothing else it allows time to thoroughly research the car and it’s foibles.
