Hi all,

Hope everyone is keeping well through this pandemic.

I recently fitted a black panamericana grille to my 2017 c220 amg (w205) . The badge from the original grill twists into the new one but doesn't fit great, it's just a little short on the edges. Id really like one of the newer looking plastic coated 3d emblems in all black as I think it's more clean and aggressive looking to the front of the car.

Can't seem to find any other than one on ebay but the guy said it clips in not twists so won't fit my grille? Any suggestions on where to get one?

I think you have the wrong grille on your car. The one you have fitted has an AMG badge in the corner. ;)

That's not my car, that's a pic with the emblem I would like.

Have you asked the place you bought the grill from. Perhaps they have a Star to fit that grill?

the one in the pic is a distronic cover emblem, not sure you can buy them seperately OEM , maybe from the bay of plenty.
I had to buy a complete new grille for my 230 (SL500) for that reason (the distronic emblem was crazed)
Your car looks very good by the way and suits the Panamerica grille (I've not liked the look on some others)

Made in NZ, gosh got to be top quality then ah Kiwi :D
Absolutely! Still found little to compare with some of the Kiwi made stuff like Masport or Fisher & Paykel or the original Canterbury Clothing Company.

I remember the Masport Ford Escort, I think we were marshalling the start of one of the NZ rallies, I can still smell and here the sounds....Must have been '76-'78 era Proper rallying when we actually drove the cars without computers telling us what to do :D......And crashing as well without computers :(

77-82 I think for the Masport Escorts. I didn't get involved in Motorsport till 78 and I distinctly recall Blair Robson and Mike Marshall chucking those RS1800s about to great effect. They always went well and sounded great. Rod Millen was the other driver that was great to watch in that RX3.

Great Motorsport that didn't stop because it got dark.

Ari Vatanen I think was rallying an Escort too, that would have been 77, quite exciting for me as I got close to an overseas driver at the start. Mike 'the snake' Marshall we used to call him, didn't go much for Millan, bit of a story  John Wolf and Paul Adams were more in more time though sadly both gone (rally crash' I think I was marshalling when Paul died or was that John?) Gosh memories........Mind you there getting a bit hazy now :( Blair Robson, story there too when he went up on two wheels and his arm came out the window to stop his car rolling, we saw this and our group had a good laugh :D
Opps, thread drift................

And that's the thing about those days - there were always plenty of stories.
I serviced for Dave Strong for many years (may be after your time but he was national champion in a Toyota Starlet in the ex Paul Adams car). I have memories of doing 3 gearbox changes in one event, driving all through the night and working on the car at 2am in some back country railyard then carrying on till daybreak desperate not to fall asleep, snatching glimpses of the rally when possible and occasionally seeing cars roll in front of us, rushing out, putting it back on its wheels then shouting to the driver to get a move on.
These days you can't usually get within 50 yards of a car let alone help push it upright.

Dave Strong, we used to deal off them some times for Austin and Morris parts, Think they were on Penrose? Warran Black was our main man, Giant Auto Wreckers. Yes you are so right about the chances we made getting within inches of the cars passing us. So many stories of stupid people pushing babies in pram along the road while ignoring our pleas to get off the road  I was at the Queenstown Street race where 2 people died when a racecar lost control and took the spectators out, nasty injuries, that finished Street racing in NZ for a while :(
