I’ve always used Autoglym wheel protector, but apparently it isn’t suitable for the 19” AMG rims on my e350 as they have grey highlights. Can anyone recommend something?

Hi

I use either Carpro Dlux which has currently lasted well over 12 months or more recently wowo's crystal sealant, which is said to last around 6 months, but can't confirm as only recently done so.

Cheers Andy, and they're both ok on grey and silver alloys are they?

I just use the same as on the car (usually AG SRP and Turtle Wax).

I have the 2 tone alloys, been using the same protector as the car - 3 years now and they are still perfect (although a little dirty)

@micky.
I started using the Carlack range (good protection)which was fine but not a great gloss on a white car. I have used the new TurtleWax Hybrid Solutions Cermanic range for a few months now and am very happy with that. TW say if properly applied it will last 12 month I'd be happy with 6. It seems to clean very well.

I don't usually recommend products as there are so many differing opinions & so many products that it becomes confusing.

However, I have a friend that uses this on his Porsche wheels and swears by it & seems to get good reviews as well - I cant be bothered with having to dig out another product to do the wheels.

Another gratuitous picture - gloss (also on clean wheels) with the TW.

I use Chemical Guys Wheel Guard - very easy on / off application, and has proved very good on last car (two-tone, with diamond cut face), and on both summer & winter wheels on current car.

Cheers, thanks for the suggestion. I bought a couple of cans of Wonder Wheels, so I’ll give them a go once it stops raining!

Oh right. I bought it on the basis of very good online reviews. What did it do to your alloys?

It's just very aggressive. If you have heavily contaminated wheels, and don't let it dwell very long... but as above, I tend not to use it either.

I've been using Auto Finesse for the last couple of years, and finding that quite good.

So that would be the wheel cleaner you used? I’ve bought the wheel protector, not the cleaner, so hopefully it won’t cause the same problems.

Seemed to compromise the lacquer, then moisture gets in and corrosion sets in.

My E400d estate has 20" two tone, diamond cut AMG wheels and gets the RG Iron Pro + the sealant treatment every time. Iron Pro really does show any "residue" and the nano sealant ensures they don't stick.

Used the Iron Pro Cleaner neat the first time thereafter I diluted it 50/50 with water as recommended by Raceglaze.

Indeed, was referring to GJP's post.

Protector should be fine, although never used it.

For future reference, I used Carplan Alloy Wheel Protector on some alloys I put on my Defender years ago - fantastic stuff!

Could literally hose muck off.
