Apparently yoofs are not interested in initials or names, but prefer plates with their Instagram (and such) "tags".

I've only ever bought one personalised plate(I refuse to call them private plates). Was back in 1998 and the first car it was assigned to was a Mk.2 Mondeo 2.0 Si(loved that car). I have transferred it from car to car ever since, and during the last decade when I started buying brand new cars they were all first registered with my plate. Its great when you can get a picture of your old and new cars side by side both with same number plate. :)
I don't see it as vanity at all.....the plate has simply become a part of me.

Missing an O after the 8, make it much more valuable;-). Nice S8 bet that drives well?

Mercedes SL500 R231

Someone actually thought it was supposed to spell boobs lol

It drives very well, had it two years now and still love it every time I take it out. Hopefully this will be a keeper with it's spec and history, won't be many V10s again in production.

My plate came with the car when i bought it. was the guys initials with a dodgy black fixing to make 11 into a H, and also had the initials of his company.
Turns out its worth around £650 so i transfered it to my current car.
some irish plates look tacky but others are quite funny and relevant.

Ended up with quite a few by inheritance rather than anything else ... was never interested until I bought my first Lotus, it has my initials and was £250 and being 6 digits&letters fitted better on the front (they stick out)

I then inherited 2 dateless plates of which 1 was my great grandfathers, the other my mums (she inherited the other one) which are Northumberland plates. The first was circa 1910 or something... 1 letter and 4 numbers and pretty rare - its been in my life forever... now lives on the lotus. The other one was on mums SLk which I inherited.. 2 letters 4 numbers...equally reminds me of her... They are apparently worth a few quid...but I couldn’t care less...unless we leave the UK then I’ll hand them onto my kids if they want them when I can’t drive anymore!!!

Also means I don’t need to remember reg numbers ;)

That of course is the other thing, I have had my number for so long now I don't have to think 'What on earth is my registration number ?'

One is obvious. The other my wife bought me for my 60th...my initials.

I once bought a new car with CAZ 6580 on it. Someone went to some trouble by contacting the dealer and having them send me a letter to see if I'd sell him the plate. His daughter, Catherine, known as Caz in the family was born on 6/5/1980. I said yes, but he never followed through.

I once bought an ML from MB with a registration plate A1 ??? (Cant remember what now), but when I collected the car it had a standard year plate on it. I wish I had complained now.

I've had 3 personalised plates. Two came on the car and the other I bought then sold with the car.
First was MR888 (on a car in NZ - apparently the number 8 is lucky according to the chinese)
Second was T15ASB which I bought to put on my T5 Volvo. ASB are my initials so it was kind of 'tis ASB but also fitted with the T5.
Last is the only one I still have - M500SLW which belonged to Malcolm. The 500SL part is obvious and the M is for Malc and the W is Watford - his surname.

I nearly bought F3STR for my Defender - it was called Fester in reference to the rust festering below which required a galvanized chassis to sort out.
