Does yours (speed limiter) come with a choice of phrases? Mine usually says “Are we in a hurry?” but occasionally I get the default “Slow down!”

I occasionally get a “Oh.... ffs DON’T!!!”
She forgets that the Coupe is a hell of a lot faster than her Corsa and can make these gaps with ease.
I must stress that I am endangering no one as I would not risk, her, me, or the Coupe for anything.
My speed limiter has gotten very cautious as she has...... matured
I remember when I was her speed limiter, just after she passed her test.

First reaction is the claws of both hands, one set into the passenger door armrest and the other set into the side of the seat, plus my name in a particular tone of voice. It all goes downhill after that if I take no notice and continue learning the feel of the car - and she does not appreciate the explanation that one day, knowing what I can and cannot do with the car, could keep us safe and possibly even save our lives. How things change over the years, when we first met and she worked for Kenning Car Hire in Cork, I could not keep up with her going from Cork Airport to Kenning's place on Western Road, she loved driving fast, the roads were loads worse than they are now, and even with her in an escort and me in a mini I could not keep up!

Good job I have very selective hearing when I'm concentrating on driving!:rolleyes::D:D

There seems to be a theme developing here about “speed limiters” maturing. Mine was a right tear-away and drove a 205GTI just after we got together and how she never had an accident I do not know. Even in more recent years, when she used to drive the C207 for a spell on the French Autoroutes, I had trouble getting her to stay near to the speed limit, she claimed she wasn’t used to the power! She has never asked to drive the GLC43, thank goodness!

My speed limiter is the same Steve, she's driven every car I've owned since we met and when a little younger wasn't adverse to sinking the boot when the fancy took her, when driving some of the nippier stuff, now however, she's only inclined to do it to annoy the boy racers as her Corsa 1.7 CDTi SRi is surprisingly torquey and I quote "if they want by, they're going to have to work for it."

Like yours, mine has never asked to drive the Merc either and God knows I've offered often enough, I know she'd enjoy it, my youngest lad told me a short while ago that "Mum's afraid that if anything bad happened while she was driving it that you'd go mad."

Ok, I wouldn't be exactly happy about it but, I don't think it'd cause us to divorce or me to commit murder, I hope, :D:D cars can be replaced after all.:rolleyes:

View attachment 59742 Today I pulled the 190e out of storage and gave it a clean! No issues with the speed limits on this one.

I don't know what it is but, there's just something about the 190e which ticks all the right boxes for me, they are gorgeous, the Cosworth models especially so.

I would love to be rich enough to own and run a Cossie 190e and not worry about some git stealing it.

It is very refreshing to drive. Simple mechanical everything, reliable, very nice place to be. I agree, that is the only thing that worries me!

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
Sat in it for about an hour inside my garage trying to familiarise myself with the multitude of different options for settings and displays. There is still a way to go but I'll wing it for now. :D
Also paired my phone and connected my USB stick with all my music on it. The latter only being possible once I obtained a USB-C to USB adapter from Amazon which I only ordered yesterday. :) I reckon Mercedes should supply one with the car, but it was only £7 and that's me got one now.

S204 had not moved for a couple of weeks and battery condition monitor had turned orange, so out came the smart charger for a slow overnight charge to get it back to full health. Have had the SLK out for the past week but only done a couple of local runs, getting to like the toy more and more! However, have had to order boot organiser bags as SWMBO complained massivly about the various things floating about in the boot - QD spray, screen cleaner, microfibre cloths etc - and was not impressed by "it's my car not yours" comment I made!!
