I'm not exactly sure what the numbers are but it always surprises me when I'm on the motorway in 'CV' mode and the RPM needle is barely off the bottom and I'm cruising at 70-80 mph. However, the torque curve on that engine is quite impressive.

it is indeed . and a lovely roar to it , ill give it some beans on tuesday when i collect it.

75 mph at 1350 revs so i hear ?

Not only that, the manual gear changes are much, much quicker and the auto up/down shifting in the sporty modes is really nice. The economy modes are what they are - wants to get to 9th ASAP and stay there for as long as possible.

We travelled in a friend's E220 W213 last year - it didn't really want to drop into 9th until you were doing at least 70+.

Mine will go into 9th at very low speeds (30 ish maybe slower) but the (367hp) engine torque curve is good. 50% of torque at 1000rpm and max torque from 2000rpm to 4500rpm.

With the software "upgrade" they're more reticent to change into 9th :(
Mine used to sit at 1,250 revs at 70 in 9th. Occasionally I'd have to use the paddles to get it into 9th
