Bad luck Jimbo:(
I'd be pretty angry in your position too.
Luckily the car is still driveable and his insurance will pay for the repairs.
Enjoy your holiday!

Sound advice from @sl500amgsport above Jimbo, I hope the culpability is a straightforward case and the insurers aren't going to win again with a dispute?

There’s dispute between us as to who is at fault, however, the witness confirmed to me that I did not deviate from my lane and the other party turned into me. Which was further confirmed by all the damage on his car being on the n/s/f corner of his bumper and the start of the wing. All damage to mine starts at the front of the o/s/rear wheel arch. Meaning I was in front and he was behind. Plus he admitted turning into my lane rather than staying in the lane nearest the roundabout and progressing into the outer second lane on the road off of the roundabout. His excuse, “I indicated left”, yes, as I was unsighted being along side him. As he approached the roundabout he had been indicating for a right turn. WTF?

Followed by a Glasgae Smile...

It was the “Glesgae kiss” (head butt), that crossed my mind tbh Russell. As I said to John it would have been murder.
I reckon he must have been at least 70, either that or had a very hard paper round as a lad.

That unfortunately probably contributed to the accident in the first place...:(

I suspect you may be correct sir.

My wife is the usually the first person to criticise me if I make a mistake Russ and the first thing she said when I got back in the car was “I hope you told him that we will pursue him for the repair costs, it was his fault” so she’s 100% behind me. Plus, if she says I’m in the right it must be so.

I will get the estimate done for the repairs as soon as I get home and then have meeting with the op and give him the good news.

Almost, however, he was about 10 years older than me. It would have been murder John and my God was I tempted.

Clearly his fault, but I have to say that roundabouts are getting ridiculously over complex nowadays. Too many signs overhead, at the side of the road, or on the road surface with very little chance to read them, lanes merging and lanes starting or ending halfway round. I see so many near misses and horns blaring as people switch lanes without checking.

Coincidentally this nearly happened to me about 20 minutes after I wrote the above post! Following young woman in a Juke, I held back because she was all over the road, no indication no nothing. Came to roundabout, she goes into left turn only lane. Thank God I think as I pull parallel to go straight on, but keep an eye on her. Sure enough she pulls straight across my front wing to go straight on. Blast horn, but totally oblivious. She does exactly the same at the next roundabout, but I had kept way back, and she got horn blasted by someone else. Some should not be allowed on the road.

Obviously if you own a Juke you have no interest in driving, just given up on life.

Bad news, Jimbo.

The good news once more however is that cars can be repaired almost invisibly or replaced (it's only money :alien: ) but people don't work like that so happily you're both okay and after your holiday you can get the repairs done.

Have a splendid holiday!

I realise these morons get away with it because other people see their atrocious driving and give them a wide berth... but how on earth do they not get booked repeatedly?

Perfectly phrased
I actually drove one in Ireland.
The GL 450 :D ( not mine) went in to the dealer for its service and that was the loan car
I just drove it back home and there it stayed until I went to collect the 450 again in the afternoon.
If nothing else it’s the ugliest car I’ve ever driven!

Do you have a dashcam? That will quickly show you holding your lane and be the end of any argument.

I think inevitably that these characters, blissfully unaware that there are other drivers on the road, will inevitably come a huge cropper eventually and probably several times in their driving career. The Juke driver probably has 50 driving years left.

Saturday before last 2 overly made up bimbos in a Fiat 500 just missed side swiping us in the SL by crossing a motorway lane without looking. They thought it was hilarious, until we went off at the same junction and (I must admit shamefacedly) bawled out a few choice suggestions at them. Expressions then changed and I saw them disappear into the distance swapping lanes haphazardly.Another driver who will inevitably cause accidents in the future.

It's becoming not much fun driving on the roads in the North West.

Having a witness is key Jim. I had an incident when I’d just parked the car and another motorist pulled out of a driveway opposite and tried to remove my offside door it didn’t cause a lot of damage but the other motorist decided that it didn’t need a repair and was going to drive off. I looked around and the only person I could see was a traffic warden so I called him over and asked if he would act as a witness to which he replied of course so I used his PW number on my claim form and didn’t have a problem regarding who was at fault - never called a parking warden since lol

Sadly I don’t Alistair and in this case it would not have been able to get the moment of impact in shot even if it had been a rearward facing unit, however, I will be investing in one as it would have confirmed and proven that the op was indeed indicating for a right turn prior to going onto the roundabout, explaining my course of action in going around him on the near side lane.
If I’m honest, and if we have to go through the insurance companies I’m really worried that they will right off my car due to its age. I know it’s repairable but I don’t expect it to be cheap. The op may not be in a position to pay for it and be forced to use the insurance which will open up a whole new can of worms.
