Thank-you - Interesting; particularly what they say about fabric roofs.

I do hope they still offer folding "solid" roofs too.

According to the Autotrader link MB are planning to release more hybrids with a whopping 42 mile range or we will have to motor around with a 1.3l petrol engine, collaborating more with Chinese car manufacturers (I thought the mood was to deal less with China), dropping the V8 in favour of IL4 engines in the AMG's and dropping hard tops in favour of fabric tops in the SL. None of the aforementioned is my cup of tea but I'm sure MB know what they are doing.

Of course they do and it’s got nothing to do with what the customer wants but is all driven by their need to hit emission targets. Failure to do this will cost them a fortune in fines. Assuming every major manufacturer has the same problem, there is no competitive disadvantage for Mercedes and we, the consumer, just have to put up with it - or keep our current cars for much longer!

Agreed, it’s all about having a product to sell that meets latest legislation, nothing else

Have to agree - I've never thought that they were particularly good looking.
They’re unbelievably popular with those who know nothing about cars or driving and generally don’t care either

But much more practical than an SL, and faster in some cases!

I have never been a fan of SUV's. A bit like driving your house from your bedroom window

I do not want or need a "practical" car. Wouldn't mind a "proper" AMG though.;)
