I’m going to sell my car. I’d like the collectives thoughts about its value. It’s a Jasper blue car, with 81,500 miles. Demo plus me. Was demonstrator in Ireland before I bought it, so logbook shows no previous owners. Very tidy car. Two sets of wheels, original 17’s with winters and 18’s with Mich Supersport tyres.

no rust, very, very rare in this condition. How much should I be asking?

Much more than any other one you would normally see in AT, but as Russ says you’ll regret it, it’s so rare you won’t ever be able to find another if things change in the future

I'd love that to replace our E class but no way MrsLK would agree to it.

Just tell her it’s a more practical estate as it’s a little smaller and lighter
That would lose the battle straight away. She doesn't want smaller. If she had her way we'd take a 7.5 tonne wagon to France each time.....

It is irreplaceable. I know that you’ll never find another like this, but needs must I’m afraid. Swmbo says no less than £5k. I’d like to think that’s realistic so it’ll probably be ebay with a reserve. If you think it won’t get near that I’ll park it and save the effort

Good point, I’d forgotten your still taking 3 houses worth of furniture with you each time :p
Maybe say it’s for when that’s complete?

I’m sure I saw a low mileage silver one go for about £7k recently, I think £5k is a little light personally

Just tell her that that’s how it’s going to be, and she should know her place, and where’s your coffee... ;)

I know Rose, she’s the meekest mildest lady I’ve ever met! Of course Alastair will get his way!

To answer your question Matty, it’s more an ongoing situation really!

Careful.. that's the public persona. Once you've entered the trap the fangs cone out....

As others you’ll regret it!
That said if you do go ahead don’t rush it via eBay etc., get it in a specialist site such as car and classic- there’s examples on there up to 10.5k ( very ‘optimistic’ I know) in no where near the condition or history of yours.
It’s worth 6-8k of anyone’s money imo on such a site and you also have some comfort it’d be bought by a sympathetic buyer...my tuppence

My recent attempt at selling on eBay produced no serious offers for my old Focus, although in years gone by I have had success with cars on there.
These are still strange times and special cars like yours are not necessarily what people who shop on eBay are looking for.
I tend to agree with John that it would be best on a specialist sales platform.
Saying that I put the Ford on Gumtree, after it languishing on eBay for over a month, had three calls in the first hour and sold it that same afternoon. And it’s free...:D

Ironic since Gumtree is owned by eBay isn’t it?

It is! I think it picks up the local buyers better.
I sometimes buy and sell guitars on eBay and even that area is in the doldrums from what I’ve seen.
As above, it’s a weird time right now and I personally would avoid selling anything that wasn’t really necessary to get rid of.
Especially a car like that!!!!! If I hadn’t bought the CLS I’d had been PM-ing about it!
As it is I’ll see if one of my volunteer colleagues can be talked into it. :D

Our most recent selling successes have both been on Facebook Marketplace. Our 996 Turbo sold on there last week in just 5 days. Alternatively, there are a couple of online auction sites for collectable cars which seem worth a look. I will try to find their names - my other half looks at them.
