My local MB garage did a B/C service yesterday and all items were ticked okay including brakes. A video was sent. They sent the car to a local MOT test centre where it failed stating both rear brake pipes were corroded. I have nine days left on my current MOT.
As I am suspicious about the failure report I intend to take the car to an independent garage today for their opinion and retest. As MOTs are now electronic will the new garage be aware of the MOT failure or will that not be logged until my current MOT has expired?

It will be on the system. If you check the mot history through the DVLA site you will see it already.

I think once your car has failed the mot it isn't allowed to be driven on the road, mainly because the car is unsafe and doesn't have a current MoT. Any remaining MoT is immediately cancelled out.

Sorry, but this does not apply if the MOT failure is reported as a 'major defect' only if reported as 'dangerous'. I only asked to find out if a new garage could pass the MOT without being aware of the day before failed MOT

That would defeat the object of being able to take your car for an early MOT ... conversely having a current MOT doesn't mean your car is road worthy. ;)

Quite often brake pipes are failed due to light surface corrosion. A clean up and waxoil application can get it passed.
I believe that without an MOT you're allowed to drive the vehicle to and from a garage for repair and an MOT test centre as long as you've prearranged an appointment.

Correct, one needs to demonstrate a booking.

My understanding you can drive a car without mot to a test centre if the booking is pre arranged.so long as yr not taking the P leaving lands end for mot at tip of scotland. I take my sorn cars to uk for test ,your ins covers you for this.I drive direct from poole to my normal test centre in chippenham and I make sure I have a copy of mot booking with me. There maybe an arguement about driving past a test centre in poole ?? Wot to do.

Correct. Any MOT fail is logged as soon as it happens, as with any MOT pass, hence another garage will check to see if there was a fail and if the issues have been rectified.
Correct. you can drive to a pre arranged MOT test if your vehicle does not have an MOT.

UNSURE. If a vehicle fails a test on rusted brake pipes it would be considered as not fit for road, as it has failed. Slightly corroded brake pipes would have an advisory not a fail.

You would need to have some one check to see how bad they are, and if rubbing down and recoating is an option.

I'm grateful for the responses received. Some are obviously not aware of the latest MOT tests as 'failed' can have two levels. 'dangerous' and 'major' Only a 'dangerous' fail means that you cannot drive it.
UPDATE: I took the car today to an independent garage which is also an MOT test centre. They applied emery and have reported that all pipes are worthy and will pass the test. As to why an authorised Mercedes dealer passes their customer's cars to another garage for MOTs I do not know. Maybe they lost their MOT qualification at one point. If they were sure that their inspection report was accurate they should have taken my side and discussed the failure with the MOT garage before telling me that the repair was going to cost £400.
Bottom line is that the independent garage now has me as a customer for my Mercedes and for my Mazda MX-5 Mk4. Oh and after owning three E-Class I doubt I'll be heading back to Mercedes. I know that I will not have ongoing digital service records but I have all the past records on paper.
