Apart from the expensive Viseeo cradle adapters are there any other options.
I’ve seen adapters that plug into head unit are these any good?

for phone calls?

Mercedes ones are about (cost more although lots on ebay...but a bewildering number of part numbers....)
later ones £250 new or 150 to 200 quid secondhand, early ones that will likely get calls but the phone books, texts and such may be odd / missing for around 80 to 120

I use the viseeo one, it works perfectly (these are firmware upgradable but getting the files is hard work)
also got their tune to air product that does BT music via an old Mercedes ipod integration kit...

the world of Bluetooth went through a rationalisation process during 2012 and most manu had patches / fixes / firmware updates in pace by the end of 2012... so you want devices / firmware that was after this

you need to check if it has a UHI socket....

the options we've been talking about go in a proprietary UHI (universal handy interface) socket.... I suspect yours is earlier and there's a different module pre UHI - with a curly wire that pretends to be a nokia

UHI ...left side at the front is a hidden dimple you depress on the handset / cradle that allows it to side back and off
s-l500.jpg

I suspect you need this one (*but at a sensible price) It may need the cable to connect to the car ????

there's a 3000 and a 3000+

If the OP has the UHI connector, I have an iPhone 4/4S cradle (A212 820 17 51)he can have for the P&P - charges the phone as well as linking to the car aerial!

on the bottom right of the picture you posted (top left when sitting in the car), is the 3mm black release button / pin / dimple.... thingy to release the cradle from the car (opposite the silver antenna connection)

push it down 4mm with a biro at the same time wiggle the cradle, it should go towards the rear wheels 1/2" then lift clear (they can be little bugger to release)

And when it's released and lifted clear you should be looking at the UHI connector in Post#6 above.

I'd also suggest a call to comand.co.uk @Alfie with your VIN and the phone you want to link, as there are different Viseoo's - they'll look up the build sheet for your car and advise which will be best for you.

Hang on a tickypoo - OP's car has ComandAPS with nav, doesn't that have built in bluetooth? It does on both my cars, NTG2.5 in the SLK and NTG4 in the S204. Comand automatically connects to the phone as soon as I get into the car now that I have paired the phone to each car, also worked when we both had iPhones (mine was a 4, wife had a 4 then a 5, we both now have Samsung Galaxy A10's).

Contacted Comand.co.uk.
They advised me that the Viseeo MB-2 is the only model that will work properly with my car.
I’ve seen these going for £130-160 on EBay.
