For a tyre that big it is amazing!!!!!!
I strongly suspect that it will be the transmitted NVH not the radiated noise that will be the biggest issue, if the performance is that impressive.

I know someone that has them on an A5 and they are really quiet in comparison to the Pirelli he had on before. The treadblock gaps are small.

The trade off is they are quite soft.

Compare the rear to the GY Assy 5 and that is 73dB

Got a call from the local dealer that they have done a vehicle health check and that all 4 tyres are perishing.
Allegedly they are still legal.
What would the quietest tyres be for a shooting brake with 19" wheels? It has Pirellis on at the moment and I find them really noisy on anything other than a glass smooth tarmac. (Perhaps it the fact they are perishing making them noisy?)
I suspect the car has been standing for a while. It missed it's first MOT by almost a year and wasn't serviced at all in 2019 which leads me to suspect it's been sat somewhere on SORN.
Does anyone know if I can find out if it has been on a SORN?
Put some tyre shine on them and keep using them until they’re worn out.
I guess they couldn’t find any wear on the brake pads or discs...

Roof and windows down to and from the werky thing second day running.

Really great red morning sun the last couple of days - as captured by my small fuzzy helper :)

It’s also 5 years ago today that I drove to Spa to see the 6hr classic race

Thanks for the reply Damoe, I'll hopefully get a look at mine this weekend

In hindsight (it's a wonderful thing, isn't it), I probably should have replaced the poppers and the rubber inserts.
I may change the other side too considering it's over ten years old and the part is so cheap

The trade off is they are quite soft.

Does that mean they will wear more quickly?
I guess that's academic anyway as I only usually do about 5K miles a year

The good news is that the supplying dealer will contribute towards the cost of new tyres :D

An old B-Class.
Gave it a wash and drove to the North York Moors to see the heather in bloom (yesterday). We were about 2 weeks too late. However, we had a great lunch at the Lion Inn.

Had a bit of a run up that way 2 weeks ago and it was very pretty :)

Agreed. 'perished' is only ever an advisory unless actually cracked. Been getting that one on wife's SLK250 for 3 years now. Same tyres, no problems. In looking round for cheapest branded tyres for mine I did alot of reading on tyre age/condition. If by perished they mean slight visible cracking then it's up to you. If they mean the outer layer can be or is 'flaked off' then change them.

The car is close to 2 tons and the cracking is quite pronounced on the rear sidewalls. The fronts have cracking on the tread. Photos attached but they don't show it all, just a sample. 0E32729D-C6A7-4A5C-8B9C-E59CBF69745E.jpeg B2DFA0C2-68B5-4CB9-B472-92172C0A53BF.jpeg 4571F1C1-0590-4449-9CE8-A79DB0A2E8A5.jpeg 3FBA04FE-87D7-46C8-9DF5-3314B454FA1A.jpeg

Top down driving today just for a drive out. Mixture of Motorway and A Roads. I was averaging 59 mpg but stop/start roadworks on the A46 and some B road driving knocked my average down...

I saw the picture of that dash and wondered how you were getting that mileage in a SL........

On my run yesterday I decided, for the first time, to see how economically I could drive. I did most of the trip in 'CV' mode (most economical) and tried to get all three green bars as big as possible. Averaged about 32mpg uphill and down dale.

Not my car but same system...

When you get the "holy-trifecta" it all glows and you get a warm smug feeling :D
I got it so that I could get all three bars to max out in the 4 mile journey from Hereford to my office in my W213. It became a bit of a "thing" :p

I got close yesterday but once I hit some nice twisty roads, it was back to a more sporty setting!! I'll have to make another attempt!

This seems like a display that I've never, nor am likely to, see in mine.

Economy you say. Hmmm, may investigate though probably fleetingly.
