Insurance prices can be weird, just traded a 10 year old R350 in (University shuttle..) and finally got a newish AMG E53. Admiral (on a multicar policy) additional premium for 10 months cover was only £15 of which £9.50 was admin fee...expected a lot more

That's a nice soft blow to your wallet! With all multi-car policies they tend to screw paying customers down with excesses - at least that's been my experience with company schemes.

Looking at a few of the postings on here apart from increasingly losing any respect for the insurance "bookies" one can see different attitudes by different insurers and I've concluded that it depends if they currently want to top up their income or gain market share.

I've just ended up with Hastings on their "premium" policy via Go Compare. The premium is 36% less than my renewal would have been and 18% less than I actually paid for the previous year. But the new policy excesses are all £0 (except for glass)and it includes breakdown service. So I think they're currently going for market share while it seems my previous insurer (LV) is going for income.

I can't understand how the insurers get a lot of people blindly paying their renewal when half an hour on the internet can make such a difference!
