I did a quick search, but nothing is coming up (I'm sure the search parameters are wrong), so here goes ...

Now that half of my new car is matt (titania grey), what should I use to err ... not make it shiny?

I'm going to treat alloys and [carmine red] glossy bit with GTechniq, but am not sure about matt paint.
:)

Thanks! Was a bit worried that the red will look too red  - it wasn't possible to view an actual car in that colour, when I ordered it ... turns out perfect :)

Caring for Matte paintwork

The big thing with Matt paint is to be extra careful not to scratch it. Obviously this is typical of all 'glossy' paint but is particularly relevant to Matt finish because it can't be corrected or enhanced. Imperfections are therefore normally permanent.

Safe washing is essential. Going to the extent of using deionised or filtered water is a bit of a myth. The main focus should be on ensuring you dry the car thoroughly. Though of course use of a water filter so that the car can dry naturally will help reduce the risk of drying-induced marring. Filtered water will help but isn't essential. A soft sheepskin wash mitt is a must have.

A Matte finish is achieved by using a cloudy or smoked lacquer 'clear' coat as opposed to a clear glossy one so polishing it is possible but you risk enhancing the finish which will defeat the object of a Matte finish.

Products are available on the market for protecting a Matt finish, these normally have Opaque in the name somewhere. Their main purpose is to create a protective wax layer but not introduce gloss enhancers.

Thanks! Appreciate the advice - copied to my iPhone Notes, so I'll have it handy, when needed ... also printed, as I'm more old-fashioned than I'd like to admit
