B180 CDI 2005 IDLE

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a B-Class B180 CDI Automatic - drives great with no "real problems" no knocks or bangs etc.. but..

I have an issue with the car when it's idle, it is making a noise like it wants to stall. I have plugged into the ODB port and it shows no active faults.

I first thought it was something to do with the Mass Airflow sensor as when this was unplugged it went back to "normal" idle.. I have since changed this part and it has somewhat made a difference certainly it drives alot better... but I still at times notice the problem especially when sat stationary at idle.

Can someone possibley give me any other suggestions what else it could be?

Not yet - I will be taking it for a full service soon - see if that changes anything

Hi. I have the same engine and years ago had a very rough idle, especially in winter. Then I had to do the head gasket (due to a oil leak) so they cleaned egr valve, mixing chamber, intake manifold and it came back to regular and quiet. Probably it's the egr slightly open at idle due to clogging? Hope it can help
