I am planning to get another quote to see if I can get a better deal. But when it comes to selling the car , the prospective owners would want you to show that Service B5 was done in a dealership instead of some independent Merc specialist

Absolutely independent Mercedes Specialist! Being a 350 I'm guessing your car is 10-12 years old, after 4 no-one will particularly care on resale provided it has been serviced according to the schedule. An Independent will use all the same OE components as main dealers with labour about 50% of main dealer which is where you will save.
There is a reasonable argument to say the Independent will take more care too, being in the main owner 'hands on'

Hello and welcome,

Prospective purchasers want to see a well maintained car, I'd argue (and a lot of members of this forum also) that a good Mercedes independent (with access to the online service system) would be better than keeping with the dealerships. It shows a level of commitment to the car that it's maintained by a specialist.

£400 to replace 6 spark plugs!

Don't even think of using main dealer unless you have a service plan that covers a B/A and B service.
As above, a service history showing Mercedes specialists wouldn't faze me at all.
