Hey everyone, I got my windows tinted on my 2014 E Coupe yesterday, and I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it but after a night of being locked, at 6am my alarm decides to wake me and my angry neighbours up! Strangest of all, the alarm wouldn’t turn off when I unlock and lock the car with the key fob, nor did it turn off when i started the engine! After maybe 5-10 mins it turned off on its own.

Any idea why this would happen? And why it didn’t turn off?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Window tinting shouldn't have anything to do with the alarm - which windows did you get tinted?
Water gets into the alarm unit and corrodes it, also the internal battery can leak and corrode the board over time

All around tints, minus the front windscreen. I’ll check out the alarm, do you mean the internal battery of the alarm can leak?

Yes, internal alarm battery can leak

There's not many (if any) tints you can apply to the front windows that don't exceed the 70% light pass through as Mercedes have tinted windows already. I very much hope you've not gone for the typical Audi "Presidential Tint"... You could have a long time to regret your choices if you were to pull out in front of a cyclist or motorcyclist because your vision was impaired.

Of course the tints are not too dark!
I have an update, when i lock the car, the hazards flash continuously with no alarm sounding!

Hi all! Just an update if anyone else has the same issue, got the car diagnosed and it is indeed the siren that needs replacing! Seems to be a common issue on various models!

Update! I have had the siren replaced, and everything was working as normal, however, today the alarm went off again for no reason! Unlocking and locking stopped the alarm however when I lock the vehicle, the hazards blink fast again, pressing the lock button again stops this. Any further ideas anyone?
