So its renewal time next month on my W220 and W251.

Had them on a multi-policy with Admiral. Renewal came in at 990. Went on the comparison sites, 2 seperate policies came in at 840 total from LV.

A nice call to Admiral explaining the situation and I asked what are they prepared to do, to keep my custom.

Let me put you on hold sir..... 30s later, indeed sir you are eligible for " our loyalty discount", we can do the multi-policy for 835.

Same story every year, but well done to Admiral for the "loyalty discount", price match whatever you want to call it.

Exactly the same scenario with Tesco. My premium has been £208 for the lst 2 years and is due for renewal in June. We will see what happens this year :)

I always refuse their new found discount and take my business elsewhere. They need to get into the habit of giving the best price first and stop treating repeat customers as cash cows.

Insurance due soon on wife's Kia Rio and the renewal price with Privilege has gone from £214 to £241.
Ageas and Rias both quoting £175 for exactly the same product.

Privilege could only offer £231 as best price so cancelled today and renewed with Ageas.

It really is a farce, car insurance companies.
You would think they are constantly checking quotes of other companies to be competitive.

Then again they probably assume (and probably are right) many ppl just dont shop about and happy to pay the inflated prices so it levels out.

Aviva now do this, they offer the best price and will not budge on renewal. Mine have gone up slightly each year, but their cover is second to none and really comprehensive, so prepared to pay. Nothing worse than an uncooperative insurance company when trying to sort a claim

I had the same with EON who miraculously found a special tariff once I’d started the move to Shell Energy. I politely told them the time for that was before I’d left.

Any of you guys tried Chris Knott?
Yes, ridiculously high quote. Then told they would call me back which they didnt. Horses for courses as with all insurance if the shoe fits.

I am afraid I grasp it with both hands. I think you are on a bit of a one man crusade there and just may end up shooting yourself in the foot  :)

I take the better price I've received elsewhere, every time. With 4 cars and 2 bikes I spend way too much time with insurance renewals... :(
Although with that many my "Crusade" may work in the end...

I think voting with your feet is fine, it highlights to the provider they need to buck up, but I am sure thy just add the difference to the next "mug".

The only reason I stay(ed) was becuase it saves the hassle of more telephone calls, providing and organisisng letters (NCD) from previous to next insurer etc.

Unfortunately corps see us as cash cows, but thats another discussion best had over a few drinks

Same story every year, but well done to Admiral for the "loyalty discount", price match whatever you want to call it.

I had a very similar experience yesterday renewing my insurance, last year it went up 5 percent and I just paid because I couldn't be bothered shopping around. This year it went up another 5 percent so I rang and asked then why I should remain a loyal customer when I could get it cheaper elsewhere, he said he would look on "another system" whatever that means and then offered me a 14 percent loyalty discount.

I decided to accept the discount and renewed my policy, but I had to pay the original amount and was told the 14 percent would be refunded to my account in 7 to 10 days.

I'm somewhat dubious as to why I couldn't just pay the lower amount and now I have to wait for the money to be repaid.

Has anyone else had to wait for a "refund" instead of just having to pay a lower amount?

No, I've always just paid the lower amount. Make sure they honour the part refund. Which company?

Esure, I assume they record all of the conversations on the phone so I will have proof of their offer. I won't be pleased if I have to chase them up but I will make sure that they honour the agreement.

It's not a large amount of money because my premium isn't very high but it's the principal of it, I wasn't happy about the yearly price hikes when I was reading articles in the news saying insurance was going down.

I always ask the name of the person I am talking to
and make of note of when I called. As you say the calls are recorded.

It may not be big money but money is money and its the principle.

Just an update on my previous posts, Esure did credit my bank account with the 14 percent loyalty discount within 7 days.
