Reading some posts on US MB forums, it seems that colour is very attractive to some owners. It's different that's for sure.

I think I had the first "Jatoba" 5 series in the country, the dealers hadn't seen one before and it was launched just as I ordered mine. It was a nice colour "brown" and probably the best thing about that car... ;)

I had one of the first Sierras in the country. A lovely shade of brown. Sadly there was a fault with the paint (apart from the colour) and it had to be resprayed under warranty.

I don't remember that colour and I worked for Ford Motor Co in those days  I only remember Roman Bronze from the 70's, says something for my memory

It may have been short lived, or not sold in great numbers, but it was a typical late 70's early 80's colour.

I had two bronze cars over the years.
"Copper Brown Metallic" on a 3L GT MK2 Capri:

And "Hot Mustard" on a Valiant VH Pacer:

The Hot Mustard really did look like dog turds.... (But I'd have that car again in a heartbeat - for that matter I'd have both again).

On a Y registration. :)
I remember when it was first introduced and it looked completely different to anything else on the road at the time. The official Ford tv advert showed a car with the smooth front which was initially only available with Ghia trim. The base model looked awful with the unpainted nose. o_O
I grew to love the Sierra and Sapphire.

Yep Y reg, with the unpainted nose. I thought it was great and it was free as well.

Oops.....sorry for saying that one looked awful.
It was only obvious when viewed head on, and if you got it for free that was brilliant. I would have took it. :D
It was interesting to watch all the improvements and things that were made standard over time with the Sierra.
Think they done away with the unpainted nose fairly soon, then all cars were given the Ghia smooth front look without the grille.

I had a Sapphire Cosworth 2wd in '88. I drove it like an absolute pratt, just couldn't help myself. I worked for Ford Motor Co. and when they introduced the 4wd they were left with a lot of 2wd's so any of us who where on that company car level had to have one to help clear the outdated model. In fact the 2wd was the better car in my view :)
