Thanks, PM sent.
So the ILS is there, but the night vision bulb is the difference.
Maybe stupid question, but will my night vision work with only one IR bulb (on the right side in undamaged hedlamp)?

For left side you can fit
A 216 820 75 61 or A 216 820 63 61

For right side you can fit
A 216 820 76 61 or A 216 820 64 61

It will work, but you will have errors on the dash and it won't be as effective :)

Though the 'correct' technology on the lights did not prevent a deer running in front of the car and causing a crash.

Hello and welcome

My SL55 is for sale, although not ready to sell it until it is perfect then I'll probably not sell it then :D
I'd sell The Money Pit, you will need unlimited funds though and not be afraid to go bankrupt, because The Money Pit will test you!!!

Thanks!
Can I just install headlamp without IR night vision bulb and delete the errors so it won´t show up again?
Another stupid question...the IR is just special bulb in the highbeam lamp, or something else? Asking, if I can just reuse the old bulb in headlamp without IR.

Tonight I´ll try to switch on the night vision with only right headlamp, if it´s working or not

Nightvision with only right headlight tried and it´s working without any issues. No dash errors, except the first warning after start

I’d check the part numbers for the wings, they are likely not the same for an AMG, could be wrong but certainly worth a check

Used headlamp A216 820 2559 bought and tried and it´s working with no issues. So it´s interchangeable with mine A216 820 7561.

Both have ILS and nightvision, I just need to respray the internals, because it´s different colour.

I started to do some repair myself, few pics attached. New (used) wings and bonnet are on the way

Wow I remember the days when a headlight was just a bulb and a reflector. We've come a long way since then.

Not entirely convinced it's much better though. The headlights on my 60 year old chevy give all the illumination you could ever need and then some. Simple bulb and reflector.

No, they don’t. If they’re using incandescent lamps then they’ll be producing 700-800 lumens. To give an idea:

HiD lamps (xenon)- 3200 lumens.
Tungsten filament- 1300-1400 lumens.
LED- 2000 lumens (limited by regulations).

Way, way above my head:D. Surely the point is whether lights can illuminate the road well and are safe for other road users. Personally I think on some cars even dipped headlights are way too bright for on coming traffic. Anyway going off topic.

Regarding light and lumens.
The old headlights were producing poor light, not much brighter than Osram Nightbreaker halogens on our ´01 Zafira.
The reason is obvious, the bixenon projector chrome plating was burned (on the replacement headlamp as well) so I decided to replace the projectors along with the repainting of the internals.

Btw, the new projectors cost 80euro/pair, while letting the job done by professionals would cost 800euro. I already spent about 10 hours with the left lamp, in case I didn´t crash the car I´d probably never do this job :)

The left headlamp pictured above should be finished today, will post some pics (in case the lamp will work :D )
