Stolen key

Hi, new to this site, can anyone advise? I had a break in last night, and my key ring was stolen. They did not take the car, but I'm worried they might come back for it. I have a spare key, so I am able to drive it. Is it possible, and how much to change electronic frequency so the stolen key will not work anymore.

Welcome, but not with your not such good news

This is a difficult area, and I think that MB can cancel some keys, on the basis that they will only sell 6 replacement keys, and the old ones have to be canceled. Any help on this would be appreciated on clearing this grey area.

If the worst comes to the worst, 2 new keys and a new ignition switch will be needed at a cost of around £1000.

I think that your house insurance should cover the cost of this work as the part of the car was taken from the house, and not from the car.

I will talk to MB today and try and get a clear answer

Yes you will need to get the current key Re-coded with a different Key code .

The other key will then not work if you order another key this will need to be done at the same time or you will need another code

1 Code = as many as three Keys at one time

1 code one key - If you add another you will need a new code

Thanks again all, one more question, I have to disable it tonight incase they come back for it before I can get it sorted. If I disconnect the battery, will I be able just to reconnect it in the morning and drive away, or will I have hassell resetting electrics?

I would not just take the battery off as they have your key and can gain acess to the battery easily.

Disconnect somthing else too.

Maybe pull off some/all of the HT leads and take them in the house with you - I've done this once in the past when staying overnight in a slightly dodgy area.

It's a CLK 320 - 2003

I take it it is a early 209 and not a late 208, If its a 209 then undo the front fuse cover, disconnect the purple wire, that cuts the starter feed or disconnect the fuel pump relay in the rear sam, bottom relay!
