Does anyone work at Halfords?

Most of the staff are always away on training courses, learning how to convince people that their batteries are never at fault.

Most of the staff are always away on training courses, learning how to convince people that their batteries are never at fault.

I recently sold 2 Chineese students a car each, just a couple of part exchanges I had a '98 406 diesel and a '97 astra diesel.Anyways they have a habbit of just sitting in them with all their friends and they smoke like chimneys and just play about with the radio and electric windows and stuff while the car is off.So after numerous calls out with jump leads to get them going they asked me if their batteries were broke which I told them no and they needed to stop messing with the electrics while the car wasn't running and that after a good drive the batteries would be recharged.

So next time I see them they tell me they went to Halfords to get a new battery for their cars and they showed me the reciepts......£140 each for a battery fitted!!!

I was disgusted and got the 2 students to follow me back to halford where I instructed them to take the batteries back, refund and put the old ones back on(which were fine).

Needless to say I wasn't that impressed and wouldn't recommend halfords to anyone.

The have a silly flashing light box that they use to tell the customers that their own battery is duff, and when theirs fails after 3 weeks that theirs is good, and its the car at fault

i used to use Meguairs really rated it over autoglym until i took it to CLB Valeting who showed me how to use The Autoglym range properly now IMO the car looks better than it ever has, The north wales/cheshire club is looking at having a day at CLB in wrexham if we can get enough members it will be an informative and entertaining day out plus Demon Tweaks is across the road

Hi Rob, CLB sounds great and having seen the results on you Merc having had the 'works' on the body, this firm will be well worth a visit at some stage.

ive always been a turtle wax man myself. i stick with it coz its sensibly priced, lasts well and also does a good job at sealing paintwork. dad had a cortina estate years ago. had a small fust bubble on the tailgate about the size of a 1p coin. washed weekly and turtle waxed about once every 1-2 months, whenever he had time, and 3 years later, rust spot was still exactly the same size! ive got to admit though, due to financial restrictions, ive never used autoglym or mcquires

Autoglym make some excellent products - Meguiars also.

SRP & EGP are easy to use and give good results for the amateur detailer.

Talking of Halfrauds I bought one of their Powerpack 200's before Christmas, well Nov' used it to blow up about a dozen tyres not from flat I might add and then it packed up. Halfords say this is a "one off" and it's not company policy to give refunds only exchanges. This is with the receipt too. I think I'm entitled to a refund?

It will be interesting to see how long the new one lasts anway:(

Aye, the P1 club use AG on all their cars too, so can't be too bad. Mind you, I have just done the full Zymol on one of the Bentleys - I had to spread it across the week as there weren't enough hours in a day!
