diagnostic equipment showed up that we had a faulty MAF sensor that was why car was cutting out especially when slowed down ie;traffic lights etc got that changed then just after car has now started missfiring

I may be responsible for the confusion...

"cylinder cut" is an expression I tend to use to descibe the way that late MB's will cut the operation of the fuel injector if no spark is present on the affected cylinder. This is done to protect the catalytic converter from damage by unburnt fuel. I often see cars delivered by the very-nice-man which are described in their notes as "has no injector pulse" when in fact the problem is one of no spark...

You are correct on the first part BUT not necessarily correct regarding the latter part of your statement above.

There may indeed be no injector pulse due to a fault. It may have nothing at all to do with lack of spark - it may indeed be lack of injector pulse due to a multitude of other reasons.

A simple example could be that the feed wire to the injector has been severed for some reason, or even shorted, both those reasons stopping the injector pulsing.

Of course there are other reasons an injector may cease to function. You have described a couple... I was simply pointing out that the ECU is capable of switching off an individual injector by itself, complicating the diagnosis proceedure for a person who may be unfamiliar with the type. In these modern times it can be difficult for roadside assistance to access the spark plugs because of bolted down covers. Often they will test an injector plug as these are often more accessible, and in these cases the diagnosis is sometimes innacurate. I am not in any way trying to knock these very valuable guys - I am a member myself, just acknowledging that their job becomes more difficult year on year.
