Hi,

Sounds exciting, but "for the avoidance of doubt", when you say 6500k on the clock, do you mean 6,500 or 65,000 (65K), or 6,500,000 (6500K) miles, where k=1,000?

For a 2001 car 6,500 would be phenomenal and 65,000 (8,000 per year average) would still be very good.

Hi,
The only thing I have heard regarding these cars is regarding IIRC is the pulley bearing on the Kompressor, as MB does not supply the part and you have to buy a new Kompressor, but apparently the bearing can be purchased on its own from a bearing supplier, other than normal 203 issues (do a search on the forum) a good car you will thoroughly enjoy it if the comments i have read are anything to go by.

I have a C32 AMG estate and I am very fond of it.

Because of the year I would look very closely around the wheel arches for any signs of rust.

I would also check that the coil springs & front bushes are not broken/worn.

Have a look at the state of the tyres as replacements are not cheap. If they are pretty well worn then you may be able to haggle the price down!

As it will have lots of kit I would spend plenty of time pressing all of the buttons to make sure they all work as they should!

Out of interest how much is the car costing.

£12000 sounds about right. There aren't that many around.

Does it have any extras e.g. sunrrof, TV, phone fitted?

I've had mine for about a year. It was pristine when I bought it but mine had some rust appear around 3 of the wheel arches. MB paid to repair the car under its 30 year anti-rust warranty. It now looks brand new!

It's since had a service (not much more than servicing a standard C-Class). The only thing that does get costly is replacing the AMG bits e.g. brake discs and pads. Probably worth checking how much wear there is on the discs and pads and when they were last checked.

With regards the Kompressor I have no problems with mine. If the bearing does go you can buy just that from a number of American sites. I think the C32 AMG was more popular over there and it is the same engine as used in the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6, so I guess there is more demand for spares.

Intercooler circ pump

The C32 shares this engine with the SLK32AMG.
They are prone to the failure of the intercooler water circulation pump, betwen 30 and 60k miles. Mine went at 40k.
It's an easy fix. The local Merc dealer quoted me about £250 for the pump, plus two hours labour @£100/hr, plus the dreaded VAT, but Uncle Benz fixed mine for a lot less than that.
Uncle Benz owns a C32, and he's back from Algarve on 4th May.
If you can wait that long, he'll know all there is to know about the cars....being an owner and a professional spanner-spinner
