Does anyone know why one of the fans on the front of the radiator would stop working and how easy is it to look at and fix? The car is a CLK 55 amg.

Big thank you to Malcolm, for advise on a previous post, I have changed the crank shaft sensor and it has sorted the problem out. Still find a little worrying that a faulty sensor can cause everything to shut down.

On my E300TD (W210) there is a belt between the fans. One of the fans is electric and the belt turns the second one.
If yours is similar, which I guess it would be, then your belt has broken. That's all.

There is a 2 stage set up on this car, stage 1 set one fan on, and later if needed stage 2 comes in, I am short on time today to go further

Malcolm, from what your saying does that mean they would both be elctric as apposed to one electric and the other belt driven off the first?
