Hi guys,

I bought some 16 rims for my W202 and was today to put them on. The rear rims was fitted ok but the front ones had some problem. The problem is that on the front I can't put the center caps on, cos the black thing I've circled doesn't let them to fit. Can something be done for this?

This is the problem on the front:

And this is how it looks on the rear:

Thanks for the help!

I do not recognizes those wheels, someone else will no doubt

Only with a hub centric spacer will you be able to fit them I think

Have you tried fitting the center cap on the wheel first

Yep, I think I need some kind of spacer. just don't know which. I didn't try to fit the center cap on the wheel first, cos it can't be done. It fits only in the rim. :( Hope someone can help. It really looks ugly now :(

Oh I see what you mean. I've tried that but it didn't work. It just pushed out the cap.

No idea what they were on before :( Although the person who selled them said they are original MB rims and not aftermarket. (although I don't recall MB having rims like these)

Thanks for the link!

I have never seen them on a Merc either. Maybe from a very old merc. No doubt you will need spacers and new bolts, be careful with your wheels sticking out too much. What width are these wheels? 7.5 or 8"?

I think they're 7.5. But I'm not sure. I thought they'll fit without a problem... Well, maybe I'll put them on sale and buy new ones. I don't know how safe will I be with spacers etc. Better if I get proper rims.

They are not a mercedes wheel. The details of the wheel will be on the inside rim but they are not Mercedes which means they wont fit a Mercedes.

What you will need to do is to put the center in the wheel, then measure the gap before it pushes the center cap off.

Hub centric spaces are not cheap but they are safe.

Shame as they look quite nice wheels

With the wheel on is the bearing dust cap sitting proud of the face of the wheel, if it is not you could cut the fixing clips off the caps, and glue them to the wheel, they are not expensive caps

Well in that case I'm contacting the one who sold them to me. I'll take my money back. He lied by saying they were original and used just once. But today when I put them on, the mechanic said they were sprayed and polished and that they were from 1997. So the one who sold them lied to me... First thing tomorrow will be calling him. Thanks for the help to all of you!

television: The gap is about 5 mm. I can't glue them cos the black thing I circled (is that the bearing dust cap?) sticks out from the center - as I said abou 5 mm.

Amo_rahal: I bought them for about 180 Euro. I put them on a W202 ('96 C180).

I take it you bought them off ebay? Try to get yourself a set of 17" used from a Merc on ebay, and post the link here if you wish them to be confirmed by us. Or spend a lil extra and buy some decent new replicas which will come with brand new tyres and shouldnt cost any more than £400,

No, I didn't buy them from eBay. You're right. If I get my money back I'll buy some 17" rims from a trusted person. Before I'll ask you guys.

Hi guys, I found out that these are in fact factory rims but for ML Mercedes and their offset are 6,5. So I think it means they can't be fit on a W202. So I'm going to give them back and try to buy new ones that fits my W202.
