Hello and welcome. So sad to hear that news, and the damage they must have caused, do you have the possibility to turn the movement sensor on or off if you have one on the dash somewhere

So sorry to hear of your bad luck, but what a strange thing to steal, I know they are expensive, I bought genuine one's for my C class.
Are we going to have start putting our mats out of sight now?? I am dumbfounded that someone stole the mats!!

Modern cars will have motion sensors fitted, possibly on the B pillar or on the dash or in the courtesy light fitting.
There is always a means to enable or disable them, you would normally disable the motion detectors if you wanted to arm the car alarm while there is a dog or person still in it.

If the thief didn’t open the car door then the alarm would not have gone off but if the motion detectors were enabled then the alarm would have gone off.
So either your motion detectors are disabled or there is a fault in the alarm.

Sit in the car and lock it, remain very still for 30 seconds, then wave your arms around to see if the alarm goes off, if it doesn’t then the motion detectors may be disabled.
Finally opening the car door should trigger the alarm.

Sorry to hear about your bit of bad luck .
