A cheap torque wrench with a ½" drive will do the job.

If you do not have one when having tyres etc fitted, take the measurement with you for you car, and ask that they toque it by hand and not that air gun.

Any web, when you buy a new torque wrench the instructions go with it, simple to use ,I use my torque wrenches all the time stops over or under tightening. sorry to but in Malcom but your a bit slow tonight must be the old filters.

What happened to 'lb-ft' then?

It's to make us buy new tools :D I must say that I do not miss the imperial system, where we had things like 17/64"ths,it was not too bad when you were working with it, as one normally used and worked in thou's. back then we had threads for all jobs.
BA was used for electrics with sizes from 0BA down to 9BA.
BSP were for gas pipes, BSF were used in the car trade until the 60's along with whitworth, then the AF threads and unified took over.
With the metric system there are 2 thread pitches just like using the BSF (fine) or whitworth (coarse) depending upon the application and the type of metal.

I need to empty out the useless info in my head, that will never be used again, that has been dormant for 40 years or more.

I cant do much about being the oldest member, but that can only last so long :D
