Currently I have my mobile (Nokia 6310i) connected in my 04 C220 via the radio
The phone is on its last legs and I understand that they are no longer available.
I have been told that the cradle is no use with a newer phone. What can I do to replace the phone without spending a fortune but still having the in car facility?
Many thanks in anticipation

We need to know a bit more about what you are using to connect at the moment.
Is it a merc system, if so, is it UHI (where you can swap out the cradles)?
or
is it an after market unit of some sort?

It is the factory fitted unit with a Merc. cradle plugged into a connector on the dash.

There are plenty of Nokia 6310i available on ebay. I always keep a spare simply because I prefer them to some of the newer models.:D

If it's a plugged in merc prewire system (or UHI as MB call it) then the simplest thing will be to swap the cradle for a bluetooth cradle. Merc do a couple of different ones and then there's the Viseeo after market unit. I have the Viseeo and it works very well. That way you can have any phone you want.

eGuru has the best idea. Buy one on ebay, but beware. There is no such thing as a new one, only refurbished. And the obvious:- Make sure it's unlocked, buy from someone in the UK with good feedback as a seller, watch for the unreasonable postage if the phone's a cheap 'Buy it Now' and buy one where the picture is of the actual phone, not a 'stock' photo. £30 - £50 including postage is average for a good example.
Good luck,
Steve.

Hi,

I bought my first merc. 2004 C180. It has a phone fitting between the seats. What cell phone can I use?

The connector you can see is the basic Mercedes connector that requires a cradle to attach a phone. To connect a phone you have a few options:

1. Buy a cradle suitable for your phone. (plenty of them on ebay etc)
2. Buy a Mercedes Bluetooth module to fit that connector (UHI?)
3. Buy a Viseeo Bluetooth module as above.

I think there is a company, Comandonline.com, that should be able to give you more detailed information.

I ahvea 2001 W220 with a 6310i cradle. I have been using a viseeo for over a year now and it is excellent with a blackberry and even better with my new iphone 3gs.

Nokia's are not very good with it. I had to manually upload individual numbers. my wife has given up on the Nokia in the car and now wants an iPhone
