I drive an E-Class 320 CDI
I drive a 3 year old E-Class 320 CDI, I've owned it for a year and when I bought it the salesman advised the noise was related to air bags and nothing to be concerned about. However it strikes me that when you start an engine there should be no noise exccept from the engine, what I experience can only be described as a low rumble which could be some air bag reservoir being topped up or even the brake servo (which is what I suspect). Has anyone else experienced such a noise? It also occaisionally occurs when driving.
Grateful for any advice Mercedes did not comment on it when they checked the car over before I purchased it.

SRS bags charging up and making a noise :confused: That is a first and the best one that I have heard of as yet.

The noise that you can hear is the SBC braking system being charged up and normal on a 211 and 230, and is quite normal:D:D

Just normal sir,,I get the same noise on my 230 SL if I just open the door, the early cars were modified, and your car will have that done already

Genius :)
Did he take his big red shiny nose off to tell you this?
I despair at most salesmen's lack of product knowledge! Mine spent 20 minutes trying to demonstrate the memory seats on the handover. Eventually I took pity on him and explained how to do it.

Another (Jeep) spent 10 mins trying to demonstrate the touch screen satnav on the new cherokee to the Mrs. It was blindingly obvious to the Mrs and I that it wasn't a touch screen unit but it didn't stop him repeatedly trying to put his finger through the LCD display. It was the dealer's car but I was still whincing at the damage he was doing.
