Good evening everyone, hope all is well out there.
Does anyone have an idea how to remove the exterior door handle from a rear door?
I have just bought a replacement door and I want to do the best paint job possible so the handle has to go. I have the door stripped down so all thats left is the handle and lock mech which I can't see a way of seperating and removing. Any ideas?
Regards
Dean

Thanks for all the papers malcolm but I'm still no closer, just spent another 2 hours trying the "smash the lock to bits" approach to see how it's all mounted but it's a hardy little devil so any further ideas would be most welcome.

Handle comes out with one screw. Open door, pull back weather strip level with handle. This should uncover a small hole. Either 4mm allen key or T20 torx grub screw needs to be loosened. This will release smaller handle part & then main handle is easily removed. Job done.

Maybe I should have posted earlier, might have saved you some hassle:shock:

Thanks, I just came on to say I found out how to do it by accident, I had the door standing on end yesterday contemplating the next act of violence on it when I noticed a glint of the hex screw through that hole and yep it all fell to bits with a few turns.
So anyone else wanting the handle off can do it in less than 5 mins and without removing the inner panel completley! Think i will do a how to when I swap doors!
