MB Aylesbury have a high-spec but early R171 SLK350 up for sale, index# LR54 XOO. Anyone here know the car or have any comments about any issues with the first R171's?

Dont know the car,

What i do know, much better than the early model, (only my thoughts) others be disagree! All the recalls would have been done, and with that lump in it, makes a fun very quick car!!

Thanks for that, now a suplemental question: Any idea of an indicative price for a C service at a) a Main Dealer and b) an Indie?

Indies are cheaper by 50% unless the dealer has tried to compete. You get a better service from an indie,,you can talk to them,,they will explain things, and do pay for things that you do not need until say some time in the future.

Put it this way,,with an indie you gat a skilled guy doing the service,,with the dealers its often a lad

I understand the relative merits (and demerits on a recent car that still has full Mobilolife cover) of servicing by an Indie, what I'm interested in is an indicative price for a C service on the above mentioned V6...
