Decided to polish my azurtite blue W202 yesterday and initially thought Mer to be a good product. However, in the sunlight today, the car has millions of tiny swirl marks. I used a brand new cotton stockinette roll as I have with other polishes previously, so it can't be the cloth. Must be the polish. Has anyone else had this result with Mer ? If so, how to remove the swirl scratches please ?

The swirl scratches probably aren't the polish - they just appear over time. I've used mer and it is pretty good, though I now use clay bar and carnuba. I suspect the extra sheen of the mer has simply made the swirls more visible.
You could try tcut or else get a professional to buff them out with a machine.

Never have rated stockinette as a good material for polishing paintwork, soft cotton aka kids pyjamas etc is much better as are the micro fibre cloths, stockinette does leave swirl marks... you may find that the swirl marks are magnified by the polish.. try a soter cloth and polish a section again .. Mer is really a matter of personal taste.. I dont like it..

Thanks for the replies. I won't be using Mer again. Looks like I might have to re-polish with something else tonight.

The swirls were probably there before you started

Mer is a light abrasive and would remove very minor marks if used correctly.
I doubt if you could have created the "swirls" unless you have the strength of Jeff Capes

Mer probably "brought your swirls out" or highlighted them

Polish is polish, and

Wax is wax

You need to switch to Meguairs---use the detailing clay to get rid of the swirls and then NXT-2 to finish off.

Thanks to all who responded. Got the swirls out using an ordinary polish. I definately won't be using Mer again.

I've tried allsorts.... found either collinite or Turtle wax Ice to be very good and easy to use? I know its a synthetic polish and not sure if its any good for the paintwork but get a lovely shine and a bottle goes a really long way! Anyone against this synthetic stuff??
