Looking under the front access flap of a new Atego yesterday, there was a sticker by the oil filler cap stating that the 'first fill' was Shell Rimula

When the price of mobil went up about 18 months ago,,MB moved over to shell, as this could be bought cheaper,,the thing is now that oils are made to a certain spec,in your case 220.5 So in many ways it does not matter who makes it,,it is the specification that is the important thing

A few months ago I bought all the Mobil oils left from my Mercedes-Benz parts supplier as they were draining their tanks and clearing their shelves to make way for Shell products.

Gonna be interesting watching Formula 1 when Lewis has to cover the Mobil One emblem up on his race suit during interviews!!

Someone took a back hander I think!

Hi,
Though i agree with everything being said regarding MB and Mobil one my dealer has told me they are still obilgated to stock Mobil one for the AMG vehicles, though this was mid last year, and when it had its "A" Service in late November Mobil one was still used. Can anyone clarify?
I,ll be going to my local main dealer tomorrow so i will ask the question if they still stock it.

The three Mercedes Dealerships in Hertfordshire are all owned by the same company and they use Texaco lubricants. Maybe its down to the individual garages and they choose who thet want and Mercedes UK just recommend. I use Mobil personally now. Was using Castrol which in my opinion is a very good oil as recommended by Aston Martin.

That is a silly price when Costco sell it for £25

Still only £23 in Costco for 4 litres of Mobil 1.
In the US a couple of years ago when the exchange rate was better, Wal Mart in Orlando were selling 4 litres for the equivalent of £18.

My MB dealer used Castrol at the last service.

I have used Castrol Edge Sport fully synthetic since I opened in April. As I mentioned before I got a deal with my Mercedes supplier and bought all his stock of Mobil 1 and ESP (low saps) so he could make way for Shell lubricants. When that runs out I will be going back onto Castrol again.
