My New E Class Spec, about to be ordered

Comand
Reversing Camera
Rear Side Air Bags
Dab Radio
Harmon Kardon Sound System
Factory Collection from Stuttgart

I'm not upgrading the wheels to 17" or 18" as I believe they will give a slightly harsher ride.

My only doubts are with regard to the colour of the seating, grey or black?

Any comments or advice on the spec would be most welcome

Exterior and interior colour schemes are a very personal/subjective area. My preference would be black exterior and grey interior to give some relief. At the moment my car is silver exterior with black leather. I would have liked silver exterior with blue leather but hard to find second hand nowadays. You will no doubt have dwelt on the matter at length and I'm sure you will enjoy the car.

Personally, I'd go for black interior and leather rather than Artico.

Not too bothered about reversing camera or a more expensive sound system myself.

Oh, and memory seats, but I realise that it all adds up.

I hope that you have a good journey back from Stuttgart.

Just remember to ensure that you have all the necessaries, including the new emissions badge if you intend to visit any cities that have a green zone classification (bought from any TUV office for about 6 Euros).

Thanks for the comments, keep them coming, always useful, I would hope that MB would supply ALL documents that were required, but I'll look out for that.

The only thing I would add would be Xenons but these add a fair bit to the cost.

I think they are a great safety feature.

I would go for grey seating to break up the black a bit but it's all personal choice.

Congrats on acquiring a really nice motor.

Nice Spec.

I recently bought a 20 month old ML320cdi (for the Mrs) with the Harman Kardon (HK), Reversing camera, Comand and Parktronic amongst other extras.

1- The HK sound system is fantastic! I have an 04 E320cdi (with comand and regular speakers) and I always feel sad when I turn on it's radio after driving the ML.
2- Reversing camera; really handy especially when twinned with parktronic - does take getting used to though. There should be no excuses for driver-error prangs on your bumper.
3- I almost did not buy the ML, despite the spec, because of the artico seats. BUT they have been just as comfortable as the leather and, with a protector like supaguard, have been wipe-clean so far to all stains and I have two kids under 6.
4- WRT the colour -that's a choice thing; if you like it - go with it.
I did drive a W204 loaner in that colour combi and it looked a bit dark/dull for me.

5- Have never used DAB radio so can't comment

6- Have not been fortunate enough to buy a brand new MB, so haven't experienced the 'Stuttgart treatment'. Maybe I'll widen my next autotrader or MB approved used search to include Germany ;-)

Above all enjoy the car - if the W211 is anything to go by, you will.

Thanks for all this good advice, was a tad unsure about the Harmon Kardon to be honest but Benz1 comment has been a real help, can't wait to get Charlie Kunz blasting out of the speakers!

Is the car an auto. Seems missing from that spec. Would try and get the real leather. Much nicer.

Reversing camera seems a bit OTT. A parktronic system just as useful.

True,, do you really want to see what you are reversing into

Probably, but you can look through the window and when the sensors say stop. Stop. £1000 in the bag for other goodies.

Distronic for instance :D:D

Just as a side note,,its amazing the trouble that dealers have in fixing Distronic, in itself it is very simple and not trouble some, only ever 1 post here, there are only 3 bits to it. My friends 221 has stopped and they do not know what to do to fix it

I like grey interior as it isn't so dark, having said that if you have lots of small people it can be challenging to keep it clean. Interior colour is more important to me than exterior as I spend much more time sat in it than looking at it. Having said that I wouldn't have it if it had a pink paint job.
Good idea on the wheels IMO, the Avantgarde trim level includes the Xenons IIRC, although I don't know the price difference between SE and AG I would not want not to have Xenons.
