Hi

I wonder if someone can shed some light.

I seem to remember that both these engines were of similar capacity, but had differing output. Looking at in more detail, it also seems that there were 180k and 200ks with a 2000cc engine AND 180k and 200ks with a 1800cc engine.

Is this correct? If so is the 1.8 engine the newer one, or is it the other way round? when did the change take place?

Thanks in advance

I have a S204 C180 Kompressor sat outside at the moment and it has a 1.6ltr engine in it.
The W203's and W210's had 1.8 ltr engines in various states of tune and called 180, 200 & 230 I don't know the dates of the changes though.

All you ever needed to know about the evolution of the engines in the C Class series is @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_C-Class

Far as I know early W203/S203's have the non turbo/supercharged 2 litre engine (M111), introduced in 1996 in the W202, later W203/S203's have the 1.8 litre Turbo/supercharged engine. My 2001 S203 has the 2 litre M111 engine.
