I noticed recently an increase in wind and traffic noise coming from the 'A' pillar area.

The door seals all appear in good order. Window is closed ok. Passenger side is very quiet...

Any suggestions (and no, I don't want to turn up the radio! )

Take a piece of card,,the thin kind like a post card. close the door on it at the bottom and pull it out noting how stiff it is to pull out. Work your way up the door and A pillar, and check that it just as tight to pull out.

If it is loose at the top,,you will not like the cure.

Setting up the doors, the front door should sit 1mm in from the wing and A pillar,,the rear of that door should sit 1mm proud of the rear door leading edge,,and the rear door back edge should be 1mm proud on the rear wing

Thanks Malcolm. Is this just a fiddly job? Or are expensive parts required?

Nothing needed in the way of parts and I doubt very much if the door alignment is out on the hinge fittings.

If the gap at the leading edge is not tight, the cure is to lower the window, open the door, put you knee on the liner near the top and pull the top inwards a little.

It bends very easily,,thieves full the top out to break in to cars

I always check by comparing the good side

I knew that you would not like it,, If you ask in your local coach builders,,thats what they do, there is nothing else.

I have been doing it for 50 years,,there is no adjustment.

I mean its not like what we had to do with the first mono coupe body made,,the 1937 flying Standard 12. when you could not open the doors,,one chained the bumper back and front to the floor and jacked up the middle,,that lasted for 12 months. So your is not that bad,,and please ask in a coach builders

As Malcolm says--this is a method also used on new cars ( Tweaking ) when the doors are first fitted on assembly line--but lower the glass fully or you may break it if you try it yourself--its best left to somebody who knows what they are doing really.

...and don't watch them while they're doing it to your car. :)

This is so true,,if people saw some of the things that had to be done they would pass out, thats why I said to Peter in the first post "You will not like the cure"
