I have had a look round but cant find this info.

I have recently bought a '04 C270 Avantgarde se and only found out last Friday from MB that it has the sport package. Could someone tell me what this includes.

From what i can gather it has sports seats, lower suspension, stiffer suspension, larger front discs, front, rear and side skirts, aluminium trim.

I'm not 100% sure about all of that and dont know if it has different/larger wheels.

Could someone please confirm or deny any of this. Also, how much would this package have cost at the time?

You can sometimes get a guide on the price from the car valuation sites (eg, What Car). If you ask the site for free valuation, it will give a variety of data and often includes "cost when new" which is adjusted by year and by trim level, but would not include any extras.

In this case:

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Saloon C270 CDi Avantgarde SE 4dr 2004 (04) 50,000 miles Dealer £9,335 Private £8,335 Part exchange £7,850 Trade £7,470 Cost new £28,995 £28,995.

Hi there, I have the Sport package on my Avantgarde SE, mines the 54 facelift but I'm pretty damn sure the option packages are the same. I have the original brochure and price list from 2004. It states the following info.

Sport Package (code 949) consists of:
5 spoke Alloy wheels
front 7.5J x 17 (225/45 tyres)
rear 8.5J x 17 (245/40 tyres)
Brakes with cross-drilled discs
Floor mats
Front brake callipers with "Mercedes Benz" lettering
Leather trimmed sports gearshift
Lowered sports suspension
Multi-function leather 3 spoke sports steering wheel with thumb rests
Pedals with stainless steel inserts and rubber studs
Polished stainless steel tailpipe (petrol models only)
Sports exhaust system (petrol models only)
Sports seats (standard with black leather Twin)

2004 Price including VAT £630.00

I have the above optional sports pack on my car, for your info the Aluminium interior trim detail is standard on the Avantgarde SE models and C55 AMG models and not part of the Sport pack.

There is then an additional AMG Sports pack (code 950) which adds the bodykit, consisting of:
All items include in Sports pack code 949 plus...
AMG alloy wheels (these have the AMG logo etched into one of the spokes!) - 5 Spoke (same tyres as 949 sports pack)
AMG bodystyling.

2004 Price including VAT £2,810.00

I would image you have the Sports pack 949 which doesn't actually add any bodykit - no front skirts, rear skirts or side skirts. This is the most popular as it wasn't that much more expensive as an option compared to the AMG pack that was over £2,200 more for just adding some plastic bodykit!!!

The 949 kit has the nicer wheels too in my opinion. These are 5 spokes with a cuved front edge spoke design. The AMG alloys are again 5 spoke but with a square edged spoke and AMG etched into the front of one of the spokes. They are exactly the same size as the wheels in the 949 sport pack.

Hope this helps you. :lol::lol:

I'll scan in the pictures from the brochure of the cars wearing the 949 Sport pack and the 950 AMG Sport pack - that way you will be able to see which you have. I'll post them up later.

949 sport pack

Hi again

Here's the pages from the 2004 brochure of the 949 sport pack. It looks just like my car - the brochure did it's job, I fell in love with these pictures in 2004 with many an evening spent just staring at the pages, I had to have one - isn't she lovely

950 AMG Sport Pack

Here's the pages from the 2004 brochure showing the AMG Sport Pack

The most obvious visual differences are different alloy wheels and a sportier front apron below the bumper with more of a gaping mouth design.

Cheers all.

So i was more or less right, except for the interior bits. It is the sport pack not the AMG. Pretty good value for £630.

Mine is a 54, registered Nov '04, delivery date 20/07/2004, does this make it a facelift version?

While i'm here, what is the orange light for on the underside of the rear view mirror? No mention in the handbook.

Does it have 2 equally sized circular dials for the speedo and the revo, with the trip computer in the middle. If so its a facelift.

If its 1 large central speedo containing the trip with a smaller rev gauage to the side then pre facelift.

Orange light is for ambience lighting.

It just lifts the total darkness

There are two other easy ways to tell the difference....

From the outside newer ones have 3 horizontal slats on the front grill while older ones have 4 slats.

In the interior, the centre consoles are totally different. They have a different radio unit, butttons and climate control buttons. The older versions have a cubby hole space beneath the radio.

I attach pics to show the difference.
