am still enjoying my new to me 1988 300CE, getting through the list of jobs to do. Thanks to this forum, I've replaced the oil pressure sensor and now have a good working oil pressure gauge. So next on list is oil level light always on even with oil on dipstick max. My questions are:-
1. Can sensor be removed with out removing sump
2. If it repairable or sealed unit
3. Best way to check it is sensor not the gauge
I've checked haynes manual and can't find mention of it. Thanks

sensor is in n/s of sump, mounted with 2x 10mm headed bolts. easy to replace, may need a little oil draining, not sure.

to test, earth the connection to make the light go out, if it does and the oil level is correct change the sensor.

as for repair, probably possible; it's just a float and contacts i think, but i have never fixed one.
