hi everyone,
I Will be fitting a new battery at the weekend and was wondering if i can just disconnect the old one then reconnect a new one without it going into safe mode. It went into safe mode last Saturday after I started it up and was stuck in first gear. after it was rest the garage said its because the voltage was maybe a bit low. also can some ligt be shed on these codes that came up
The codes were P2600circuit 87 voltage too low
P2404 can signal 59/1 or trair charge temp (ACT) system implausable
P2602 voltage supply of valvesis faulty

Engine
P200E fault stored in N15/3 ECT module
P234 cruise control shut off
A few days earlier i flattened the battery when i was cleaning the car by moving the seats and operating the soft top and i jumped it to get it started again,
The car is a 2002 CLK 200 kompressor auto convertable (206)

There should be no problem with the car,,though the faults will be stored,,nothing should affect the running of the car and the codes can be cleared at a later date

disconnecting will be fine. you will have to reprogram window positions and time etc, but otherwise should be fine. don't worry about fault codes and the battery diagnosis is most likely correct, the p2602 code is what we expect and your battery is probably the original.

I had that same problem in Newcastle lol, I was in the carpark of the travelodge in the toon, and the battery died. Kwikfit wanted to fit a 56amp battery saying thats what is listed for my car. In the end they relented and gave me the biggest they had, 88amp. I should change it really as my dead one was a 110 amp

quick question - is there any way us common folk can re-set the error codes?

2. The fault finding computer diagnostic thingy - is it possible to buy this software/kit?

Nothing cheap that will do this,,you can erase them with the old blink code method with the 38 pin box, but it does need a dedicated STAR kit to do the post 2000 model cars

I rang mercedes in newcastle and they said the battery would be £120 plus vat , that was on sateurday , Today i spoke to they guy in parts that i normally deal with and he offered me the battery for £88 including Vat:) so i think i will go for that :p

Out of curiosity if it ever goes into safe mode again , is it possible to reset it by disconecting the battery ?
Cheers for all the input guys;)

Funny things the electronics on cars,, they can lock up and freeze sometimes and a power down is the only way to unlock them,, where this happens constantly MB do bring out mods where necessary
