would that work for an r230 with keyless? If so, any estimates for the dealer programming?

I only got one key with mine which is not the most comfortable feeling.

That key on Ebay is no use to man nor beast,,they cannot be reprogrammed as the are write once, it is a shame that you did not know that they should come with two keys

I chased the original owner re the second key - as all records were meticulously maintained and this was his "daily" car when he wasn't driving the ferrari etc I thought he would just have it in a safe place. Turned out it is safer than one might imagine - it fell out of his shirt pocket just as he flushed the toilet :(:(:(

The seller has loads of keys available if you look at his other items. The Mercedes key he is selling has a blank and quite a lot of his other brand keys have blank "key" bits ready for cutting. I wonder what his source for all these keys is? A scrap yard? He then buys a blank for the metal area and knocks them out on ebay?

His standard line on all the adverts I looked at is that before purchasing check with your dealer for reprogramming. If prospective purchasers do that then there shouldn't be much of an issue. I doubt people are doing that though and think that they can ask afterwards...

Complete waste of time, everyone selling these keys knows they are useless, and also know alot of people will buy them thinking they are saving money as new ones are so expensive, which of course they arn't. We never sell them even though we have quite a few and could put up a disclaimer like "you check to see if it will work" but whats the point? Its not going to help anybody.

couldnt agree more. at £51 it may seem cheap, compared to about £200, but if it doesnt work, is it really cheap? i dont think so!:cool:
