Hi all,I have tried working sim cards from Orange,Vodaphone & tmobile in my car phone, which is a Nokia 6090.The phone seems to accept that a sim card is inserted as the comand screen allows me to enter a phone number, then when I press the button to connect, message shows "No Service Available"
Also if I try to ring the car phone from my handset, the handset shows "Number Unobtainable".The sim cards all work in my handset,so they must be ok.
I'd be very glad of your help.
This is my first post, so forgive me if Ive not followed correct procedure.
Car is 2001 S500L

A bit obvious but have you tried cleaning the contacts on the phone and the cradle? They do tend to get dirty.

Thanks for speedy reply eGuru, not sure what contacts there would be as phone is the wired type,I will trace where the cable goes from the phone into the centre console and see if there are any connection blocks or anything. Thanks

Check what type of SIM card you have - most of the new SIM cards are 3G and don't always work with old phones - if you go to a mobile store ask them for a GSM sim card and not the 3G version.
Try and see if that works.

Hello again guys,I'm not getting far with Nokia or Vodaphone over this problem,in a round about way both say I should be able to use a new SIM card in my Nokia 6090.
I've since heard that the Transceivers can give problems with connecting so I'd like to check the connections on mine,I've looked in the boot but can't find it,does anyone know where it is.
Thanks Jeremy, 2001 S500L
