After selling the C class a month ago the DVLA have written to me (Only took them a month) to tell me the new owner has changed the registration to a personalized plate. Now why did they feel the need to tell me this ? As he must be an enthusiast perhaps he is out there on this forum ? anyone bought a mint C180 Avantguarde sport recently 11K on the clock ?

May have something to do with making sure the car wasnt stolen, or any future use of the old plate..

No , I have a confirmation letter from them acknowledging my notification of change of ownership.
Perhaps they are suggesting I could sell the original reg on Ebay
