Hi All,
Car is 2003 C270 CDI with 53k on it.
What sort of mileage would the gurus recommend changing the rear diff oil at?
And also what spec of oil is it I need assuming you suggest a change.
Thanks in advance,

on a related subject, my diff has a leak from the pinion oil seal. not too bad but annoying. when i get the car back, i want to either sort it or at lleast top up the oil so should i use a forte seal conditioner (used successfully in a sierra for rear crank seal leak) in a diff? and what oil does the diff require? ordinary ep 85/90? 75/90? or something more specialist?

Diffs on these cars can look messy,,Hypoid oil foams when it gets hot,, you have a breather right on top and this should be kept clean,,this used to be a problem some years back when I first joined but hardly ever talked about these days

There are a few different setups and mods, but not easy things to change are the seals, early cars have vents at the ends

its definately the front seal (around the propshaft flange) and it has sprayed oil around on the floor of the car in that area (at least it shouldnt rust) i just wondered what oil it needs, if its just hypoid ep oil or special oil, and if it would be wise to put a forte seal conditioner in a diff or if its bst to just keep the oil topped up until it gets severe?

My 210 did this, the breather became blocked and forced oil out of the seals, it didn't leak much just the occasional drip, I had the breather changed and the seals replaced. Having said that I think it would have run for many thousands of miles with no issue at all if I'd have left it.
